Heading North

Fond memories of her

Seep back into my mind

Like tears of joy

Dissapating

Back into the atmosphere

Where they belong

 Hours spent on the road

 Sometimes during winter

When trickling water

Was momentarily frozen

On the mountain side

 When it was spring

The blooms in the trees

Waved hello

Then goodbye as we passed

 A fossilized imprint

Of nature forever preserved

In the soul of a child

On a rural highway
